Imagination
Workshop is a primer in performing arts perfect for that precocious
preschooler you just know should be on stage. Students will play
theater games, learn how to express themselves through music, acting
and movement and will increase their confidence and comfort onstage.
Students will learn how a show is put together, how to be in an
ensemble and will perform in a special, one of a kind performance at
the end of the semester.Level I Drama
Grades K-2
Drama I is a combination of Acting and Musical Theater. In this beginning class, students
will learn the basics of theater terminology and etiquette, and will
explore the creation of a character through theater games,
improvisation and imagination. Creative play is the center of this
class, and will help build students’ confidence on and off the stage.
Students will also be introduced to working as an ensemble and will
learn simple songs and routines as a group. During the spring semester,
class time will be used to rehearse for the spring musical.Level II Drama
Grades 3-5
Drama II is a combination of Acting and Musical Theater. In this class, students will continue their exploration of the theater, with a greater emphasis on structured scenes and character. Students will begin to learn how a production is mounted and about the different jobs in the theater, as well as more theater terminology and etiquette. Students will explore the creation of a character and ensemble building through theater games, improvisation and imagination and will begin performing in and creating scenes with a more traditional structure. Students will also learn basic choreography and music from different Broadway shows. During the spring semester, class time will be used to rehearse for the spring musical.
Level III Drama
Grades 6-8
Drama III is a combination of Acting and Musical Theater. In this
class, students will further their acting skills by working on
character and theory based in the Stanislavsky system. Scene work and
monologues will be emphasized, and students will begin to explore
different genres and eras of theater, including Shakespeare,
contemporary, and devised theater. Students will learn more challenging
choreography and music from different Broadway shows and will explore
more obscure and Off-Broadway material. During the spring semester,
class time will be used to rehearse for the spring musical. Level IV Drama
Grades 9-12
Drama
IV is a combination of Acting and Musical Theater. In this class,
students will delve into various theatrical eras and acting techniques,
including Stanislavsky, Meisner and Hagen. Scene work and monologues
will be heavily emphasized, and students will begin to build a
repertoire of audition pieces from various eras and genres of theater.
Students will learn more challenging choreography and music from
Broadway shows and will delve into the hallmarks of different
composers, directors and choreographers. During the spring semester,
class time will be used to rehearse for the spring musical.
